The Warrior

For Carl Jung, the archetype of the warrior is one of the primordial images of humanity's collective unconscious. It represents strength, courage and determination and plays a significant role in the male psyche.

This archetype symbolically represents the intrinsic characteristics of the masculine in his search for conquest, protection and overcoming challenges. It evokes a powerful internal energy that impels the masculine to confront obstacles, fight for his ideals and defend his values through firm, healthy and loving action.

For men, the archetype of the warrior when balanced with other aspects of the personality can channel masculine energy towards constructive and harmonic action between assertiveness and compassion. When this archetype manifests itself with maturity and responsibility, it can help man to become a just, integrated and resilient leader.

In summary, the Warrior archetype has a profound meaning for the collective masculine unconscious.  It leads us to rethink the figure of the aggressive and violent warrior, opening space in his self for the flowering of the human being's humanization and growth.
